Decomposed Carnival

Twin s

Via Disconaivete, Twin Sister is set to release All Around and Away We Go on 11/22, and there is a new remix of the song by D/R/U/G/S that Pinglewood compares as a Black Swan next to the original.

Twin sister around and away we go mp3 was here.

Here's a neat video where someone took the song and paired it with archival footage from The Center of Home Movies(!) called "Decomposed Carnival.":

Saturdaze

The Hundred in the Hands
Brooklyn's Jason Friedman and Eleanore Everdell make up The Hundred in the Hands.

The duo recently played Pomona's Fox Theater supporting Delphic and Temper Trap and are on their way to Europe. Would not be surprised if they manage to build up a following over there with their minimal disco sound..listen below: Hundred in the hands mp3 was here.

Beachy Keen

The-soft-pack2
Phew, busy today!

Gwine to try to crank out a few posts on the quick here...

I was listening to some old Muslims aka Soft Pack songs on the way to work and it struck me how they make light work of a song in a way few bands can; it all sounds effortless in their hands. (via)

Soft Pack Right and Wrong mp3 was here.

They'll be playing the Echoplex with Kurt Vile on November 11thses.

Some news from the inbox:

Stylish biotch Lykke Li is baaack. And she hasn't changed up her style one bit. Example: "I'm your prostitute, you gonna get some." Heh heh. Guar-an-teed, like Justin Wilson used to say. #old. Download at the Fork, sample below:

Let It Breathe

Black-milk-album-of-the-year-front-cover-450x450

Producer/rapper Black Milk has scored high marks on Metacritic for his new one Album of the Year, a real feat considering that the name of the album isn't a mile long.

Don't know enough about the man to flesh this out any further, so head over to Passion of the Weiss for indepth info. Loving this simple beat and chanting!? No one chants anymore.:

Gallo-rriiccee-tour-2010

++Filmmaker/Speedracer Vincent Gallo's band RRIICCEE makes a pit stop at the El Rey on 11/23.  "At present time, RICCEE has no recorded music and no plans on recording a commercial release." There's also no composing, no structure and no jamming allowed. Plus, the store is closed. Despite all that, am still a little intrigued.

++Not to get all Jane Goodall, but the word 'douchebag' is used so liberally over on the Kevin and Bean twitter. It's a central form of language over there, usually a compliment; will dbag dollars as a form of currency soon follow in their world?? Still it's not used with as much affection as Cee Lo telling you to F off. (very end of video.)

++Pistolvania resident Wiz Khalifa plays Henry Ford Music Box tonight. In this interview he talks about the buzz surrounding his buzz and making it across the Canadian border, which is no joke..that border's tough.

++Friend of SOG JV has a new LP that's not at all on the QT, which hopefully will mean a lot of new tour pix. This song has a kind of tropical feel to it.: john vanderslice pony express was here  Emmy

++Donate some money to Emmy the Great's new album before that furrow in her brow becomes permanent.

++Wine figures prominently in Lenny Kravitz's photos.

OthersideREMIX.WithText.Web

From the inbox: A few weeks ago I wrote about Chris Mansfield aka 'Fences'..this is a new project he's involved in with Macklemore called Otherside, a song that revolves around overcoming addiction. Much like the Antlers' most recent album, this has been quite the year for self-confession.

Fences has been doing some work with "kindred anxious soul" Sara Quin of Tegan and Sara fame, and is set to play Rockwood Music Hall in New York tonight. Macklemore will also play Seattle's Paramount Theater tonight. Because tonight tonight tonight. Oh. macklmore ft fences otherside mp3 was here.

My Generation

Pats
Patti Smith is set to participate in something called Fortright Journal, in which she and other rockers will metaphorically pass the torch to millenial rockers. At least I think it's metaphorical, which is a shame, because who among us isn't slightly-pyro/pro-real torch?

It's been a busy month for the multi-tasking Smith, who just received a non-fiction National Book Award Nomination for her memoir Just Kids. In your face, Imbruglia!

Sweet Retweet

First rate people
This is from earlier this year...

Sometimes all that a song needs to do is have a decent beat and a few nonsensical quotables that are easy to retweet.

"You're so fine, I wanna make a postcard telling you that I'm crashing Girl's Night." (via) first rate people girl's night mp3 was here.

"Fact!"

Cd-colossalyes
Floating Prediction: It may not be this week, this month, this year,even...but one day when I least expect I predict I'll be playing iTunes a little too loud, this song will randomly come up and the opening scream will scare the tar out of me.  Colossal yes fraudelent singer mp3 was here today will scare me tomorrow.

One Man's Quest

Gruff-Darklight-Poster-Final-400pxl
Here's a trailer for Separado, a documentary starring the brilliant Gruff Rhys. It follows Rhys as he travels with his long lost pancho-wearing Patagonian uncle Rene Griffiths.

I like the rough, grindhousey feel and how he's spiced up what looks like, essentially, a genealogical dig. Your move, HLG!

A new single by Rhys (via); feelin' it!: Riff Gruff Rhys shark ridden waters mp3 was here.

++I love the mild brashness, almost mockery, in the voice of Paris' Chloe.

Attitude! Though it's not as in your face as Uffie.

There's a reason given for why the video below cuts off. I like to think Chloe just stopped being into it and simply left.

Mondales
One of the Bear bands at CMJ that seems to be getting a lot of buzz is Bear Hands.

(That sounded like a elocution/speech exercise.)

I'm currently googling the lyrics because I swear he's singing about the Mondales? bear hands what a drag mp3 was here.

Socially Inclined

 Mon khmer
From the inbox: There's a diverse menu at this year's CMJ including some SOG favorites like Lissie, DOM, Ava Luna, Salem and the Billy Nayer Show, to name a few. Here's a sampling of a few bands not yet profiled here, who are also set to appear.

++Otherworldly Brooklynites Mon Khmer's debut EP Birthplace is out on the 19th. They will play PS122 on Friday the 22nd.: Mon Khmer mp3 birthplace was here

++Also from Brooklyn, Home Video play the Knitting Factory on the 19th. Their new album The Automatic Process drops November 16th.

The_glass_fourfourletter

++DJs Dominque Keegan and Glen "DJ Wool" Brady make up The Glass, and other DJs around the world are going off on remixing the song below, Four Four Letter. Or whatever the constantly changing DJspeak is for 'going off." The original sounds Ibiza-ready as it is.:

Fuzz_shades

++Please Show Your Work: FuzZ is the first new artist signed to Spectrophonic Sound, headed by Squeak E. Clean who is 1/2 of the group N.A.S.A.

FuzZ's real name is David Streit, and he is 1/3 of Greenlab Cinema. 1/2 + 1/3= this.

October15042010
++Sounds like sommmebody's Team Gore! I'm not saying this in reference to this book necessarily (Gore is OG, as Ice T would say), but it seems as if our thirst for information on a given subject has gotten so intense and specific that we not only want biographies on main players but on those surrounding them. And maybe soon enough, the restroom attendants who helped those surrounding the main players.(via)

Just A Silhouette

Exlovers2

So yeah, uhh, I've obviously been having a little love affair with guitars this week. In this case, I love when bands like Exlovers tweak a single note by bending a string. It's an unexpected Voodoo Child/Wild Horses touch that gives it a bittersweet quality. Excellent harmonies as well.:
