You Can't Deny A Murder Ballad

Tom Waits says of Jesca Hoop: her music "is like going swimming in a lake at night." She's also been compared to a four-sided coin.
I can see both of those comparisons in the following performance in which she complains about feeling alone and misunderstood under a spotlight:
