Reality Show

Neil-strauss-emergency1
++There was a great interview with Emergency author Neil Strauss on the Carson Daly Dark and Intimate Chatshow the other night. Strauss talked about how he will be releasing an anthology of the work he did for Rolling Stone magazine, and the time he spent with Snoop Dogg many years ago. It was shortly after  Snoop had left Death Row records. Strauss said that Snoop tried to get Strauss to record some angry raps directed towards Sug Knight that Strauss smartly declined to record and were never released. Strauss remembered driving through South Central L.A.with Snoop and fearing for his life as the two of them tried to buy Pampers for Snoop’s kid. I mean, he just said Pampers, I assume they were meant for Snoop's kid.

++One of my fave Twitterers Robert Hilburn notes that the Metacritic reviewsfor Nirvana Live At Reading have been more than good and that Eminem will be starring in a 3D Horror movie, (that is not his actual real-life).

++Ooh, the Broad Stage will be showing Jane Austen, Unscripted next month. Sounds saucy.

++Apropos of nothing, I met not one but two people yesterday who have had encounters with Ryan Seacrest and volunteered the information, unasked. One said that Seacrest is a “sweetheart; real nice” and the other said that he saw him stand on a box behind a podium while giving a speech. What are the odds. Has everyone had a Ryan Seacrest encounter? Is Ryan Seacrest omnipresent and lurking everywhere, like under freeway underpasses, just like Dennis Haysbert?

++Melissa Etheridge recently played an exclusive show at the Hard Rock Café in New York in support of breast cancer, as Etheridge herself once battled the disease. She played her classic Come To My Window, one of her many breaking and entering/violating property rights themed songs.

The best part of Emergency is Will Smith's millenium/Y2K rap.:

What's gonna happen? Don't nobody know
We'll see when the clock gets to 12-0-0.
Chaos, the cops gonna block the street.
Man, who the hell cares? Just don't stop the beat.

My name is Will and I'm here to say...
