Woodchuck Chuck
-DJ Quik and Kurupt are back with 9 Times Outta 10 off their upcoming album Blaupunkt Blaqkout, to be released June 9th. The lyrics of this song are tongue-twisting and hard to follow like a logic problem (i.e., Lion and Unicorn II). I do like the stripped down sound of it all. Maybe it's all part of a movement to get back to basics in rap.
- Here's a link to the newish album Epcot Starfields by Windmill. Diligent indie listeners who followed their assigned listening lists back in 2007 might remember the song below Tokyo Moon and Matthew Dillon's distinctive vocals. The new album is, in fact, about the Epcot Center in Florida. (Some smile-inducing song titles here.)
The twinkling bells in Epcot Slow (on the album version of the song; stream at Myspace) give it a dreamy E.T. quality and, despite the fact that there is a chorus backing Dillon up, the somber piano playing makes it all a very lonely sounding affair. It's as if he's playing alone in his bedroom with his imaginary friends..
