Buzzerfly Effect
I've been thinking about how public figures can have striated personas or 'presences' these days. Or how, as there are increasing outlets for them to express their creative selves, I, as a consumer/observer can have different reactions to the different, multiple parts of themselves that they present. For example, while I'm not fond of Jim Carrey as an actor, I do appreciate him as a person (or the person he wants me to see) when he gives interviews for his causes. So, huh, that's weird. Same goes for someone like Ashton Kutcher, who is a producer, actor(-ish), Twitterer, etc. And some parts of him might appeal to certain segments of the public, while others will fail.
Anyway! Along these same lines Derek Hough from ABC's Dancing with the Stars has formed a band with Mark Ballas, also from Dancing with the Stars. And I was reading yesterday that Peggy Wang, editor of Buzzfeed, is part of a band called the Pains of Being Pure At Heart, which she may or may not promote on Buzzfeed? The mind reels with all the cross-marketing possibilities for all these hyphenates. It's kind of a crazy United States of Tara time we live in.
The BallasHoughBand or BHB formerly called "Almost Amy" has a debut album coming out on March 10. Here's a Pains of Being Pure at Heart (Voted Best New Music by P4K) mpfree and a BHB video.:
