Down The Gurgler!
Via Anthem:
I've bean reading up on Modular Records, an Australian label that has one of the cleverest splash pages around. Modular has an unusual assortment of artists in its stable, including Cut Copy, Presets, (K)ladyhawke and Wolfmother. Strange bedfellows.
Right now Modular is mad for Tane Mahuta Tame Impala, who may or may not be part of what Spin Magazine is labeling "the new Psychedelia" being lead by MGMT (starting sometime last year). I don't know about that label. Though there are a lot of sixties sounds in the air right now (See: Bears post from earlier this week, for more of the 60s sound being done right.)
Anyway, above is a fan video for the song Skeleton Tiger, that exemplifies the "Cream-like" sound being associated with the band. Personally, I'm a little partial to the funkier "h.f.g.w." Listen up. It's a real toetapper.
