My Bipolar Friends
Today we have a video twofer by the U.K's Johnny Foreigner. It's always exciting to watch a band in their energetic, formative stage; punky, pouty and unschooled. They're not totally green; they've already built themselves a nice following across the pond, and even have a logo: a frightened cartoon ghost.
Duelling leads Alexei Barrow and Kelly Southern's shouts and arguments play nicely against drummer Junior Elvis' hard driving, angry beats. I'm not sure what they're all so angry about though (shrinking groceries? Harry Potter's persistent doffing of his wizard robes? uncomfortable shoes with those confusing non-heels? who knows...) but I'm ready to take up a torch and join their fight.
Give the Spinderella song a few seconds to heat up and bust loose. It ends far too quickly for my tastes.
Johnny Foreigner are pure energy and are not afraid to get a little theatrical, vocally.
