Don't Lose Your Head
I haven't posted about Subterranean in a while because they moved their date and time a few weeks ago and its got my Tivo all flustered. Doesn't take much, really..a slight wind blowing, etc.
This week's eppy had some hilarious interviews with Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney from the Black Keys. Somebody give those guys a show! Their slow, dry delivery is a riot. They talked about performing with the peanut butter mouthed Shaggy , calf implants, regrets over having turned down a well-paying British mayonnaise commercial, and their anger at not being on their high school wall of fame. (Braggadocio side note: I'm on mine! I pretend its no big deal but whenever someone visits the school's front office I always casually work into the conversation whether or not they saw if the pic is still there.)
So there was a lot of headlessness and decapitation in this week's videos, for some reason. They played the droning goodness of the She and Him song that you hear everywhere now.. And Dr. Dog's "The Ark" that is described as a "love story between a man and his own body." The song is quite theatrical and dramatic by their standards, full of handclaps and plaintive Joe Walsh-like guitar lines. Good stuff.
