Coconuts and Bossanova
Oh happy day, I just found out that one of my favorite bloggers (who I don't actually know), Ortholomeux, is not moving to Australia (to work on the Sin City video game) after all. Not only that but he's written about a few songs I hadn't heard of:
The first is by Coconut Records, called West Coast from last year's album Nighttiming. Coconut Records is the solo project of actor Jason Schwartzman. The name of the project sounds like the name of a record label, doesn't it? Confusing. Which is probably what he wants. Cunning hipster.
Some commenters say that while this song is good the rest of the album sounds "Wes Anderson," however you want to take that. I find WesAndersont Coast to be a sad and pretty ditty if a little "color-by-numbers." Aww, what the heck I'm gonna go ahead and recommend it:

Next up is the song Take It Easy My Brother Charles (Charlie?), by Jorge Ben (Jorge Ben Jor, if we're getting technical), a Brazilian Portuguese song with elements of bossanova, swing and samba. What makes this song for me is the police whistles. There aren't enough songs with traffic whistles, in my opinion. Someone get on top of that:
